Chris Ekrem

Chris Ekrem, MBA, FACHE, brings over two decades of hospital administration experience in financial operations, leadership, business development, recruitment and executive coaching. He led highly successful business development projects during his tenure in operational and executive leadership roles at academic medical centers, community hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals in Kansas and Texas. Chris began his healthcare journey as a financial analyst at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida and spent the next nine years of his career in cost accounting, finance and decision support roles before advancing to the C-suite in roles as a Chief Operating Officer (Kansas) and a Chief Executive Officer (Texas). Most recently, he was Vice President of Business Development and Operations for Wiederhold and Associates, a leading healthcare executive coaching, branding, and transition/outplacement firm in Atlanta, Georgia. He also served on Boards of various organizations, such as the Texas Association of Rural & Community Hospitals (TORCH) and the Chamber of Commerce.
Chris earned his BBA in Finance from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and his MBA from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California. He is Board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). In addition to his long-standing membership in ACHE, Chris has been involved in state healthcare leadership as a Texas Hospital Association Leadership Fellows graduate and a Kansas Hospital Association Leadership Institute graduate.
Chris is very passionate about rural healthcare and guiding hospitals to find their true potential. In his free time, he enjoys teaching high school students about personal finance and mentoring early careerists. Chris is married to Lindsey, his best friend, a busy mother of two, and a highly skilled nurse. He also tries to keep up with his enthusiastic five-year-old son, Grayson and eight-year-old daughter, Brianna.
